Auditions – Blackout

Denton Community Theatre is holding auditions for Blackout by Gary Lennon. This production is directed by Andrea Avery Ray. Auditions will be held at the Black Box Theatre located at 318 E. Hickory, Denton on Saturday Dec. 8, Sunday Dec. 9 from 7:00pm to 10:00pm.
Appointment not required. If available, please bring headshot and a resume. Audition will consist of cold readings from the script. Please be aware this play deals with very mature and sensitive subject matter. Then bulk of Rehearsals will take place on Tuesdays- Thursdays from 7-10. Performances are Feb. 1, 2, 3, 8, 9, 10, 2019. Roles available for anyone 18+ and older.
Summary of play:
Blackout takes place On Christmas Eve at an Alcoholics Anonymous meeting; where a diverse group gathers to share their stories of hope and madness. They crave strength, integrity and friendship as they struggle to make sense of their lives after years of drinking, drugging and excess. A unique sense of family, love and hope prevails.
Jack – meeting leader, an orphan. Age range 25-55
Tim – a young man who started drinking to be “one of the guys”; coming to grips with his identity. Age range 25-40
Debbie- a “rock and roller,” Lots of unfocused energy. Tough. Age range 18-35
Patty- was a sloppy drunk with narcissistic tendencies. Age range 20-40.
Jim- strong but has a boy’s soul. Age range 35-65
Carroll- a beautiful live wire. Age range 25-45
Helen – an unsuspecting type of woman who has seen it all. Age range 25-55
Rachel- a model whose prime has passed, was an only child with two parents who drank. Age range 35-60
Becky – a successful business woman. age range 30-60
Kent – a Wall Street puppy dog. Age range 40-60
Kathy- a Street urchin, disheveled. She wears a hooded sweatshirt, bell bottom jeans and is obviously distressed. Age range 18-28
